Reference: NFPA 10, Standard for Portable Fire Extinguishers. The current edition is 2026, and the paragraph numbers below are those of that edition. Not all of them carry over from the 2018 edition: the mounting-height limits are §6.1.3.9 in 2026 and were §6.1.3.8 in 2018. Confirm which edition your AHJ enforces.
Table 6.2.1.1 — Class A size and placement, including the 11,250 sq ft cap per extinguisher · §6.2.1.2.1 — Minimum count per floor · §6.2.1.5 — At least one extinguisher where the floor area is below the table · Table 6.3.1.1 — Class B size and placement · §6.1.3.9 — Mounting height limits · §7.2.1.2 — Inspection at intervals not exceeding 31 days.
